Course content

Unit 1:  Enterprise in the Business World (Year 10)

This unit introduces students to the language and terminology used in business.  It explores what businesses do, the trends that affect them, how they operate and the factors that influence success.    

Unit 2:  Finance for Business (Year 10)

This unit explores the types of cost that businesses incur.  It then explores the ways in which the sale of products and services generates revenue, so that you develop your understanding of profit.

Unit 4: Principles of Customer Service (Year 11)

This unit develops students understanding of customer service in different businesses. This will improve knowledge and understanding of customer needs and expectations.

Unit 8: Recruitment, Selection and Employment (Year 11)

In this unit students will be introduced to the variety of job roles that exist within businesses and the various functions that are performed by individual roles.

 

How will students be assessed?

Unit 2: Finance for Business (Examination - on screen test) in Year 10 or Year 11 

Unit 1: Enterprise in the Business World (assessed by school) in Year 10

Unit 4: Principles of Customer Service (assessed by school) in Year 11

Unit 8: Recruitment, Selection and Employment (assessed by school) in Year 11

Students have 3 levels of success for their assignments (pass, merit and distinction). A pass is the equivalent of a grade C, a merit equates to grade B and a distinction is a grade A.
