Which Examination Board? AQA
This course will give students an understanding of the role of law in today’s society. In addition to helping students acquire subject knowledge, studying law helps them to develop skills of selection, analysis, critical thinking and decision-making, and an awareness of the rights and responsibilities of individuals. Even if students do not intend to carry on studying law at sixth form, they will nevertheless gain skills and knowledge which can usefully be carried forward into other fields of study and the world of work.
How will students be assessed?
Unit 1: The English Legal System – Written examination (1 hour 30 minutes) in Year 11 worth 50%.
Students will answer all questions from Section A and one from two questions in Section B.
Unit 2: Law in Action - Written examination (1 hour 30 minutes) in Year 11 worth 50%.
Students answer two questions from a choice of four.
