THE OPTIONS PROCESS AT CHALLNEY HIGH SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
January to March are extremely important months for Year 9s. They choose some of the subjects that they might want to do in Years 10 and 11 as part of their Options curriculum.
To help with the whole process, Year 9 students are given guidance on choosing their Option subjects during their tutor registration times and Personal Development Curriculum lessons. They have assemblies from Senior Leaders on making the right choices and the consequences of making the wrong ones. Year 9 students also have their yearly reports and Spring Term subject updates to consult.
They get comprehensive information about their curriculum for the next two years through an Options booklet (hard copy taken home by students; PDF version on the school network and on the website).
At the Options Evening, we invite parents and carers of Year 9 students, along with their daughter, to visit various departments, talk to the teachers who are offering specific courses from each subjects and understand the commitment that is required to succeed in them.
