Behaviour Curriculum
At Challney High School for Girls, our vision is to ‘develop influential women of the future’. We have high expectations for everyday life in school and behaviour both in and outside of lessons. Students, staff and parents have excellent working relationships, which ensures that our students make exceptional progress and demonstrate exceptional behaviour for learning at all times.
We pride ourselves on the relationships we build within and beyond our school community. Our teachers and staff take the time to learn and know all students they teach, whether it is in lessons, form classes, year groups or extra-curricular activities. Every member of our school community has a responsibility to make sure that every other member is given the opportunity to learn in a happy, safe and stimulating learning environment.
Our behaviour for learning model is based on what we call the 3Rs- Respectful, Ready and Resilient.

Behaviour is monitored electronically through our Epraise system. Students receive points for various reasons, for example progress and acts of kindness. As well as points, we issue demerits to students for reasons such as not completing extended learning and late to lesson. Parents can see a dashboard for their daughter, which includes attendance figures, points, demerits, interventions and extended learning timetables. Epraise is also used to communicate with parents and likewise, parents can communicate directly with teachers. This information is used by form tutors and year teams, to monitor student’s behaviour and most importantly to reward good behaviour. Accolades are also given to students from different subject areas. All of this can be seen on the Epraise dashboard for your daughter.
Positive behaviour is role modelled daily through interactions with staff and students. We take the time to teach students about positive learning behaviours as well as teaching them routines, while normalising positive behaviour. This equips the students with the skills and attributes they will need in future life.
At Challney High School for Girls, we promote an ethos of good behaviour through regular praise and rewards. We believe that celebrating successes and normalising good behaviour is a great motivational tool to create the positive learning environment we have in school. We do this through year assemblies, House assemblies, Achievement assemblies and an annual Awards evening.
While we strive to reward good behaviour, we will challenge and sanction poor behaviour. We take time to explain sanctions to students and facilitate restorative conversations to enable students to move on in a positive way with their learning.
Our school community have a Code of Conduct and this is how everyone at Challney High School for Girls is expected to behave:
