Music
Music Curriculum Intent at KS3
Our music curriculum provides all pupils with opportunities for performing, composing, listening, participating, collaborating and working with others as musicians. All our pupils are progressing to the next level of excellence (as outlined in “The importance of Music- a national plan for music education” July 2021) through adaptive teaching of music making with others and appreciating cultural musical traditions from all over the world. We nurture transferable skills such as resilience and creative thinking in influential women of the future.
Sequenced Progression of knowledge and skills through components across KS3 to KS4
The skills are learned throughout 3 years by increasing difficulties of topics and continuously building on skill sets in previous years and prior knowledge. All skills are linked to flightpaths and GCSE assessment criteria. This progression is linked to overarching skills for composites as outlined in Ofsted research review in July 2021
Overarching skills for Composites
Progress in music requires pupils to develop musically across 3 pillars that interrelate in musicianship
