Voice 21
Challney High School for Girls is a Voice 21 Oracy school, part of a national network of schools which are committed to ensuring that all students are able to benefit from a high quality oracy education.
Spoken language skills are one of the strongest predictors of a child’s future life chances and through our work with Voice 21, we aim to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to develop these crucial skills.
Our teachers use oracy specific strategies to encourage, develop and fine tune the quality of talk within classrooms for every single student. This includes skills such as developing physical oracy skills, self assurance, the use of appropriate vocabulary and listening to others, all of which are key aspects of the Oracy Framework which we use to support oracy development across the school.
