Numeracy at Challney High School for Girls

Numeracy Overview

As a department we have a wide range of strategies in place to raise the progress and attainment of students when they come to CHSG, including mental arithmetic, reasoning and problem solving. Students have an opportunity to practice key numeracy skills in registration alongside their maths lessons. Students in Years 7 and 8 follow the Numeracy Ninjas programme. The results are recorded and students can view their progress throughout the year. Students in Years 9 – 11 follow a tailored programme to help build the basic skills required for their GCSE exams.

CPD for Staff

As a Maths department we liaise with a number of outside organisations in order to improve the teaching and learning of maths and ensure all staff have high quality training.

  • Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP)
