Physical Education
Curriculum intent
The Physical Education department seeks to engage students in activities that develop health and fitness, as well as developing lifelong transferable skills such as; confidence, communication, respect, resilience, leadership and sportsmanship.
We strive to motivate and engage our students through fun and engaging PE lessons that are diverse, challenging and accessible to all. We are ambitious by aiming to provide a varied and inclusive curriculum, exposing students to a number of disciplines, allowing all to develop their fundamental movement skills through working independently and collaboratively.
Our extra-curricular programme is open to all our students to attend both competitively and socially. We provide the opportunity for students to take part in sporting activities for leisure or competitively, with the chance to represent the school.
We are aspirational in that we aim for 50% of students to leave with a form of accreditation in this subject by offering a number of pathways within the core P.E curriculum.
Curriculum overview
We offer a broad range of sports at KS3 and KS4 core PE lessons. Alongside this we have a number of pathways which the students can access from Year 9 onwards. Our pathways this year include VCERT Health and Fitness from Year 9 onwards and Leadership Level 1 in Year 10.
