More Able for Website

Challney High School for Girls is committed to ensuring that the needs of More Able students are met so that they can fulfil their potential.  We recognise the importance of ensuring that More Able students are stretched and challenged whilst receiving any support they need. The school is a member of NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education) and is currently working towards the NACE Challenge Award which recognises excellent provision for More Able students.

The school has two categories of More Able Learners, whole school More Able identified by Cognitive Ability Tests and Departmental More Able identified by students meeting certain subject based criteria.  This includes students who are academically able as well as those who are talented in a practical area such as PE, Music, Art, DT, Dance or Drama.

Parents of students identified as More Able will be notified of this.  All More able students and parents are asked to contribute to a More Able profile that helps inform their teachers about how they learn best.

More Able students have a wide range of opportunities open to them both within and outside of the classroom and the school has links with many organisations, companies and educational establishments who help us to enrich the offer to More Able students.
